The extreme futures - This is a readable book touching on future foresight, however a few points to add.
Colonialism though ended in last centuries however a new transformation term globalization take root, the end objectives are the same but through a different means. Corporations do not need to advocate to government for war to conquer other nations by whatever reasons or excuse in order for penetration.
Through globalization, Global corporation made it easy to access to resources not available or have become competively expensive to harness within the home countries. This global mobility open up employment in the developing nations as a win-win strategies for local government to engage fast growth. However the side effects are the local natural resources will eventually be depleted at a faster rate leaving wide area of greenery, forest wipe out causing soil erosion, mess flooding, river, sea-bed contaminated with toxic chemicals, air pollution and pundering of land resources brought or steal from peasants at a low cost. The worst is the injection of extreme individualistic consuming culture to exploit the local mass spending via hippy new trend. That’s what we are seeing such events happening to developing nations like China, India, Brazil, Vietnam and many other smaller countries around the globe. Developing Countries like these with resouces able to produce goods at a cheaper price as compare to developed nations become a sore in the eyes of these developed nations.
Henceforth when developing countries natural resouces become depleted, the global mobility corporations will soon move out, there goes the mass unemployments. As big corporation start to migrate to developing nations to harness the cheap resources be it natural or human resouces, the developed nations job become scarce. This bring about the Talent crisis issue.
Where can developed nations skilled force go to when there are not enough jobs in the developed nations? When it is harder to penetrate across nations because of immigration rules, racial discrimination, the emphasis of talent crisis bring forth a new opportunities for global corporation migrated to developing nations to able to harness the skilled labor from anywhere in the globe. This quest for talent is but another strategy to open up local countries labor source from anywhere in the globe therefore maximising profit for the corperations. In a way the global corporation will be able to safeguard more of the critical position by employing their own nationalities employee in the oversea branches.
On the other hand, for the developed nations where corperation need to fight hard to compete globally, lower cost labor are more attractive. Employing lower cost employee from around the globe is a attractive option though the skill labor may not be as good as the locals. As such the phenomenon is about affordable cost talent pool, resulting more poorer nations labor force to migrte to developed nations to compete for the jobs away from the more expensive skill forces partly for the bigger pay and also the advantage of the exchange rates. That ’s what happen now to US and to many of the developed nation globally. With more corporation downsizing and moving out of US to other parts of the under-develop or developing nations, more jobs outsource to oversea corporations and when more jobs are lost to the lower cost foreigner skill labor it look very bleak if the US and Europe local skill labor have no other places to go, so the theory for Talent Crisis roam big. On the other hands there is also the increasing talent skill labors choosing to move out of corporation in search of work-life balance or in freelancing job.
The impact is social dis-integration and more revolt from the locals with the government and the coperation around the globe. Government trying by all means to hard sell, pursue, integrate the new labor with the locals may only deepen the resentment. In countries where there are equal power political parties, it is likely the government who meet the needs of the people will be the deciding winner, the one which stubbornly go in favour for corperations profits in the expense of the locals unemployability will not last long.
When citizenship becomes a easily attainable passes, what is left for between countries? Likewise corporation may one day become the entity of another countries.
The world need to recognize something gain, something lost, greed have no limit, resources are limited. Same in the trading market some one gain at the expense of some one losing money.
More countries now seem to be moving toward corporation management,ie. countries are run like corporation with less social obligations. The concern is always about increase in GDP by how many percent, early announcement of technical recession do not serve as early warning to corporation but signal a moral deflation instead. More and more government corporations are privatised to maximised profit. This total privatisation have adverse impact during recession, corporation first objectives is still to make money, where CEO and top management need to safe guard their position and their huge bonus, there will always be to sacrifices the down line lower cost labors first. The rise in unemployment rate versus the drop in spending plus the reluctant for government to lay more public spending to boast the economy, unable to fill vast unemployment to get jobs, the impact will be a slower recovery and less profits for the corporation, in the end it is the same. Less jobs = less spending. It is timely to reflect currently to balance between private corporation along with government corporation. There will be need for public hospital, transportation, power, energy, water utility, school which is essential to keep cost down afforable for the middle income and below group. Serve as jobs availabilities for people and also the efficeincy of some public organization do not necessary mean less efficient than privatised companies. Changing the managing mindset can equally manage public organization well that do not loose to a private companies with need for profit.
Now major powers are eyeing into outer space explorations in search of new territories in the unknown. The one that can stamp the first footing on a livable planets will have first lead for outer space dominance. Major power may start with transforming planets to be livable planet and thus using the resource there. Building new supremacy from outer space conquer.
China have long advocate the middle path, neither er on the extreme greed or extreme poverty. The new century war will again be ignited once resources are depleted faster than anyone can control unless new technology can replace resources like oil, gas with new innovative to transform existing system.
Mad rat race competition between countries only worsen the ecology as more corporation in the quest for profit will only plunder more resources at a faster speed. The impact on organizatiom , private corporation is to outwit each other through staying ahead in term of strategies and talent resource uses. Though on the surface it look good but in the long run, more adverse social impact will submerge.
